And Then There Were Two: School Board Narrows down Final Superintendent Candidates
City Times Staff
The Stevens Point Public School Board this week announced it had narrowed its field of superintendent candidates after interviews on Monday.
Kehl Arnson and Jack Stoskopf, Jr. will move onto the next round before the board makes a decision on March 30.
Kehl Arnson is currently the director of secondary education for the district, a post he has held since 2013. Arnson has over 26 years of experience in education, first as a classroom English teacher and then the last eighteen years as a principal and curriculum director, with past experience in administration in southern Wisconsin and Cobb County, Georgia.
Jack Stoskopf, Jr. is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Business/Personnel Services in the D.C. Everest Area School District, a post he has held since 2010. Stoskopf has over 32 years of experience in education, 27 of those years in the Stevens Point School District. He also formerly taught at area junior highs, as well as Kennedy and McKinley elementary schools, and previously served the district as assistant superintendent of operations.
The candidates will attend a meet and greet on March 11 with district officials, staff and other stakeholders in the community, followed by a community forum from 6:30 – 8 PM.
That forum will be held at Ben Franklin Junior High School, 2000 Polk Street. The public is invited to attend.
At a cost of $16,000, the School Board hired Iowa- based Ray and Associates to conduct a superintendent search, which yielded only about a dozen applicants.
Provided there is a successful employment offer, one of the two finalists will replace Superintendent Attila Weninger in June. Weninger submitted his resignation last May.
