Plover Police performed an unusual task on Monday- they saved a skunk.
Officers responded to the 2200 block of Post Road around 8 AM after a caller reported a skunk was in distress. According to the police department, the animal somehow got its head stuck in a small dog toy, leaving it unable to see or eat. Officers kept the skunk away from traffic until help arrived.
Responding officers called Absolute Wildlife Control in Plover to assist in treating the skunk, which was later released back into the wild unharmed.
No officers were sprayed during the rescue attempt.
