Stevens Point Man Facing Battery Charges in Domestic Abuse

A Stevens Point man is facing felony charges of substantial battery stemming from a March 15 incident at a residence on Torun Rd.
Gabriel Ceballos, Sr., 40, allegedly attacked his wife during a domestic disturbance at their home. Officers responding to the call found the victim with a split lip, bruises and ruptured blood vessels in her eye.
The victim said that her husband stuck, punched and strangled her. At one point she lost consciousness and collapsed. Paramedics also responded and transported her to the hospital where her conditioned worsened so much that she had to be intubated.
Ceballos appeared via video conference in Portage County Court before Judge Thomas Flugaur. Assistant District Attorney David Knaapen requested a substantial cash bond due to the severity of the charges.
Judge Flugaur ordered a $7,500 cash bond and ordered that Ceballos have no contact with the victim or their two children. He is due back in court on April 6.
