Custer Man Charged with 4th OWI
By Lisa Pett
A Custer man is facing charges for his fourth OWI offense.
Robert A. Barker, 30, was traveling north on Highway J in the Town of Stockton, where a Portage Co. deputy observed Barker crossing the center line multiple times. Following a traffic stop, a run of Barker’s record revealed multiple OWI convictions dating back to 2009.
As a result of those convictions, Barker is required to maintain a blood alcohol content of .o2 or less. He refused field sobriety testing at the scene and was transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital for a court-ordered blood draw. Those results were not immediately available.
He was booked into the Portage County Jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated and appeared in court Monday via video feed, where Court Commissioner David Worzella set a $2,000 cash bond.
Barker will appear in court on April 6. Check back for updates.
