Letter: Retired Sheriff Endorses Wiza for Mayor
To the Editor-
On April 7, 2015, the citizens of Stevens Point will be voting for a new mayor. The future of Stevens Point will be in the hands of the person elected.
A good mayor has to have the qualifications, leadership skills and most of all motivation to work hard for and with the people who hire him by electing him to this office.
Mike Wiza has the motivation and best qualifications which are shown by his service of 10 years on the City Council and eight years on the County Board. During this time Mike has served as chairman of the following committees and commissions: County Parks Commission, Land Conservation Committee, Solid Waste Management Board, Judicial General Government Committee, and for the last two years has been a board member of the Izaak Walton League.
A true leader must have the respect and confidence of the people that work with him. It is plain to see that Mike Wiza has earned respect and confidence by being elected and re-elected to the City Council and the County Board and voted in as chairman on the many committees and commissions he has been appointed to serve on.
When Mike is elected mayor, citizens that attend City Council meetings will not be shut down, but will be given the time to address their elected officials who should be listening to their constituents’ concerns.
Vote Wiza for Mayor.
Stan Potocki, Retired Sheriff of Portage County
