Anthony “Tony” F. Wanta, 75
Anthony “Tony” F. Wanta, 75 of Stevens Point, died Monday April 13, 2015, at his residence.
Tony was born on August 26, 1939 in Bevent. He was the son of the late Florian and Benjamina (Gagas) Wanta. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1958.
He entered the United States Army on April 23, 1963 until 1965 where he transferred to the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1969. He received the Sharpshooter and Good Conduct Medal.
His marriage to Patricia Guzman took place on May 29, 1965, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Millcreek.
Tony worked various jobs after high school, finally settling at Consolidated Papers from 1965 to 2000, retiring after 36 years of work.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Wanta of Stevens Point. Son, Anthony Jr. (Charisse) Wanta of Junction City. Daughter, Paula Ann (Bruce) Przybylski of Plover. Grandson; Dustin (special friend) Carmen. Granddaughter; Samantha. Sister-in-law, Margie (Virgil) Brown. Sisters; Leona (Donald) Wiernik, Phyllis (Robert) Kostuchowski, Linda (Joe) Piesik, Mary (Bob) King. Brothers; Joseph (Carol) Wanta and David Wanta (Marlene Duda).
The family would like to thank Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice Services and Dr. John Paulson for his 30 years of health care for Tony. A special thank you to all of Tony’s brothers and sisters for all their help and support throughout his illness. Plus special friends; Donna & Stosh and Debbie & Lee, we couldn’t have gotten through this difficult time without all of you.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Thursday April 16, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the St. Faustina Room at the church.
Parish rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Pisarski Funeral Homes of Stevens Point and Plover are honored to be serving the family.
