Stevens Point girl honored during Youth Appreciation Month

For the City Times

As part of a Youth Appreciation project, the Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has honored Maya Kunze, a 5th grade student from St. Stephen’s School, with the April Youth of the Month Award. Maya is the daughter of David and Tracy Kunze of Stevens Point.

Maya was chosen to receive the award in recognition of the many helpful activities she is involved in at school and her positive outlook in everything she does.

“Maya is a ray of sunshine and always looks to find the best in any situation,” said Mrs. Henning, a teacher at St. Stephen’s School. “She encourages others, helps them when they are down and works hard to be the best.”

The Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has been honoring local youth through Youth Appreciation for many years. Youth Appreciation is the most popular program sponsored by clubs throughout Optimist International, with more than 2,000 clubs participating each year.
