Lauris J. Mills, 93
Lauris J. Mills, age 93 of Stevens Point, died Friday, May 8th 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI.
Lauris was born December 28, 1921 in Marinette, Wisconsin to Lawrence Cecil and Pauline (Hestra) Mills. He married Kathleen Gehler on July 18, 1942 in Marshfield, WI. She preceded him in death July 2007.
Lauris served in the Army stationed in Georgia during WW II. After an honorable discharge from the Army Lauris worked as a construction worker installing roofs, as a car carrier transporter for Janesville Auto transport, as a mobile home delivery and setup man, as a mobile home salesman, and as a delivery driver for the Los Angeles Times his last position before retiring in 1987.
Lauris enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, driving tractor for his grandson, going to Sabbath at his church,The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Stevens Point and visiting with family and friends.
Lauris is survived by one daughter and two sons, Margo Duda of Stevens Point, David (Jill) Mills of Stevens Point, and Dennis (Cathy) Mills of South Jordan, UT, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the wonderful Staff of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI, Stordock Hall, for their wonderful care of Lauris the past two years and Heartland Hospice Care of Stevens Point the past month.
Lauris’s celebration of life will take place at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley Street, Stevens Point, WI on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, from4 to 7 pm and Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1510 Sherman Ave, Stevens Point, WI, with visitation from 10 to 11 am and service from 11 am to noon, with a luncheon at noon.
