POTD: Now That’s A Lot of Box Tops
City Times Staff
Great Lakes employees Kaitlyn Cleary, Aaron Cavin and Robert Allen pose with Jefferson Elementary students Abbie Walsh, 11, Harper Robinson, 7, 12 year-old Dylan Wall and Matthew Glodowski, 12, on Tuesday.
The employees were on hand to present over 20,000 box tops- translating in over $2,000 for the school- through the Box Tops 4 Education program. Employees also gathered more than 100 books for summer reading at Jefferson School for the Arts- the adopted school of Great Lakes Educational Loan Services in Stevens Point.
The company collected the items during a March Madness team competition in the Stevens Point office. For perspective, last year Great Lakes employees collected just over 13,000 of the box tops at eight offices combined.
Jefferson Elementary puts Box Tops 4 Education money into a flexible fund for special purchases, usually used for student materials, field trips, positive behavior incentives, or playground equipment like jump ropes, balls and chalk.
