Aileen Glenna Monear, 87, died on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at North Haven Assisted Living in Stevens Point.

Private family services will be held.

Aileen was born August 9, 1927 in Manistique, MI, the daughter of Glenn and Jennie (Gundersen) Riley.

She graduated from Manistique High School in 1945. Aileen married Gordon Johnson of Manistique.  They divorced after a year.

On August 31, 1948, Aileen married Edwin Monear in Barron, WI. Since her husband worked for the railroad as a train dispatcher, they moved with their family a number of times, finally settling in Stevens Point in 1960.

Aileen and Edwin were members of the Whiting Dance Club and an Eastern Star Member in Stevens Point. Aileen enjoyed reading, listening to music, bingo and sports, especially the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves.  She also enjoyed working retail sales, which she did for a number of years.

She is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter; Robert “Bob” Monear, Plover; Gail (Rick) Marquis, Stevens Point; Daryl (Luna) Monear, Seattle, WA;  Her sister Jane (Edwin) Leonard, Manistique, MI;  4 grandchildren: Janelle Edwards, Marshfield, WI; Joseph (Amy) Monear, Fitchburg, WI; Matthew Marquis, Berlin, WI; Kai Monear, Seattle, WA.  Many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Jennie Riley; her husband, Edwin, an infant son, Patrick; her son Edwin E. Jr.; a sister Marie Kokesh, Gulliver, MI; 2 great grandsons, James Edwards, Jr. and Josh Edwards of Marshfield.
