Portage County deputies say a 17-year-old boy was not seriously injured after he crashed into a power line pole near Cedar St. and Post Rd. shortly after 11 PM Monday night.
When deputies arrived at the scene they found the man behind the wheel of his Chrysler Town & Country minivan, conscious and alert. The driver remained inside the vehicle until workers from Wisconsin Public Service could temporarily turn off the power and the pole could be moved.
The man was removed from his vehicle without further incident.
Chief Deputy Dan Kontos said the man had fallen asleep at the wheel and would be cited for inattentive driving. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and no one else was injured.
Plover and Stevens Point Police departments, WPS, Adams Towing and the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
