By Jacob Mathias
A good time was had by hundreds at the 26th Annual St. Peter’s Catholic Church Picnic on June 13.
The picnic kicked off with a polka music filled mass followed by dinner. Members of the congregation volunteered to serve a meal of smoked pork, baked beans, cheesy hash browns and coleslaw inside the St. Peter’s Middle School gymnasium.
Burgers, hot dogs and deep fried treats were also available on the picnic grounds as well as beer and soda.
Raffles, bake and craft sales, and games of chance helped to raise money for church programs and kids game prizes let the little ones leave with something for themselves.
The River Cities Jazz Band performed swing and jazz standards for everyone to dance to.
The picnic continues on Sunday, June 14 with a chicken dinner, cake walk, raffle drawing and battle of the bands.
