The Stevens Point Police Department has announced the release of a sex offender in the Stevens Point Area on July 21.

Brent J. Broeske, 23, was 19 when he was convicted and sentence to 4 years in state prison by Judge John Finn for first degree sexual assault of a child under 13. He had been released last May but was sent back to prison for a parole violation in September.

The Stevens Point Police Department is notifying the community of Broeske’s release according to state law, Wisconsin Statute 301.46, to better enhance public safety, awareness and protection.

Broeske has completed his sentence and is not wanted by police at this time.

A news release from the Stevens Point Police Dept. also noted that citizen abuse of information contained in the release cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders.

For more information contact Asst. Chief Tony Babl at (715) 346-1515.
