Sheriff’s Office Reports Injury in Stockton Crash

Two men were been injured in a Monday night crash on County Highway HH in the Town of Stockton.
According to a news release from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, a 53-year-old Custer man driving a pickup truck and 33-year-old Rosholt man in an SUV collided head-up in the westbound lane on HH near Burbank Road. The 33-year-old had bee traveling eastbound on HH, while the 53-year-old was traveling west.
When deputies arrived they found one vehicle smoking and its occupant unconscious. The man was removed from the vehicle and the fire extinguished, thanks to a Stockton Fire Responder and sheriff’s deputy.
The 33-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was transported by air to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The 53-year-old suffered minor injuries and was later released. Their names are not being released at this time and there were no other occupants in either vehicle.
The crash closed both lanes of County HH between Burbank Road and County Hwy. J for about three hours.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigation Unit.
Plover Police Department, Portage County Ambulance Service, Stockton First Responders, Stockton Fire Department and the Portage County Traffic Incident Management Team all responded to the scene.
