Families First Home Visit Program has Openings
For the City Times
The Families First Program, a voluntary home visitation education program now administered by CAP Services, is accepting applications and referrals for Portage County families with children ages birth to 4. The program is free and there is no income limit for participants.
Interested parents should contact April Niemi, CAP’s assistant director of early childhood development, at 715-343-7540 or [email protected].
CAP Services was recently selected to administer the program, which includes regular home visits, group socialization, training and family events. During home visits, parents and home visitors work together using the “Parents as Teachers” educational model to plan activities for the child’s growth and development. Home visitors also work with parents to plan and implement family goals and help reinforce positive parenting.
The program is a cooperative effort of University of Wisconsin-Extension Nutrition Education Program (WNEP), Right from the Start Coalition, St. Michael’s Hospital, Portage County Board of Supervisors, and Portage County Health and Human Services.
