Second Man Charged in Hull Shooting Spree
By Lisa Pett
A second man allegedly involved in a drunken shooting spree in the Town of Hull made an initial appearance in Portage County Court on Monday.
Joseph Olszewski, 20 of Almond, is facing charges of endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, bail jumping, failure to install an ignition interlock and operating while revoked.
According to deputies, Olszewski admitted he was driving Cody Grubba and Jordan Feltz in a truck in the early morning hours of July 12 when the two allegedly fired a pistol out of the vehicle’s window.
Deputies were dispatched an area near Granite Ridge Rd. in the Town of Hull where residents reported gunfire. One witness attempted to follow the suspect’s vehicle but lost sight of it. Deputies later found spent shell casings and a sign with bullet holes along the road.
Marathon County Sheriff’s deputies also received a call regarding gunshots and Portage County law enforcement to a residence on the county border. When deputies arrived at the address on Hay Meadow Drive, they found Olszewski, Grubba and Feltz.
When questioned, Olszewski told deputies that Grubba and Feltz both fired a pistol out of the window of the truck. Deputies also viewed video footage on Feltz’s phone showing Feltz firing the gun.
Olszewski, who was convicted of OWI in a 2014 case, was required to install an ignition interlock device on his vehicle for 12 months. He did not have one installed in the truck he was driving.
Grubba was charged with felony reckless endangering in the case on July 27. Feltz is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on August 31.
Olszewski remains free on bond and is due back in court on September 8.
