Sheriff’s Office to Hold Conceal Carry Weapons Class

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) Class in October.
The classes are taught by deputies who are certified Department of Justice Firearm Instructors, and the class is the actual DOJ class developed for CCW permit application.
The class will be held Saturday, October 24 from 8 AM to noon in Rooms 1 and 2 of the Portage Co. Annex, 1462 Strongs Ave.
Cost of the class is $40.
A second course, Basic Handgun Course, will be held later the same day, also for $40. The class will be held at the Portage Co. Law Enforcement Range.
Topics covered in this class include shooting stance, grip, sight picture, loading, unloading, malfunctions and firing. Students will need to bring a firearm and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition.
Students taking both the CCW and Basic Handgun Course will be charged a total of $60 for both classes.
