A Plover woman returns to court in October to face charges of spitting saliva and blood at Plover police officers and creating a disturbance in a Madison Ave. home.  

Katie S. Kusch, 27, faces two felony charges of throwing or discharging bodily fluids at a public safety officer and three counts of disorderly conduct, as Class B misdemeanor. The events transpired on July 4 and 7, respectively.

Plover police responded to a mobile home on Madison Ave. after a caller reported a domestic disturbance on July 7. A female at the home told the responding officer Kusch slapped a man at the residence and also pushed a table into the woman’s stomach. The woman said she was 13 weeks pregnant at the time.

Both the man and woman at the residence claimed Kusch had injected herself with either heroin or the woman’s medication just prior to the incident, also saying they’d been attempting to get Kusch to move out for some time but were unsuccessful.

The man living in the home told the officer Kusch had threatened to kill him in his sleep if she was forced to move. The officer then called two additional units to the scene.

According to the criminal complaint Kusch appeared intoxicated and later blew a .146 on a police breathalyzer.

As police took Kusch into custody she became agitated and began screaming she be allowed to speak to her grandfather. Once inside the car, Kusch began banging her head against the squad’s backseat cage. When two officers opened the door to calm her down, Kusch spit at them.

When another officer got into the driver’s seat to transport Kusch to the hospital, she also spit on him. When the officer closed the divider, Kusch began banging her head on it, which caused her to bleed from a wound on her head. She then began to spit blood on the window of the backseat. Kusch began cursing at the officer driving, then spit blood at him as well.

The July 4 incident involves Kusch allegedly causing a disturbance at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital, when she arrived for treatment of a foot injury. At that time, a Stevens Point police officer witnessed Kusch removing a bandage from her toe, which then “began to bleed profusely all over the floor”, and began yelling and cursing loudly at hospital staff. The complaint alleges Kusch’s yelling and swearing was so loud it could be heard throughout the entire emergency department.

Kusch faces up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for each of the misdemeanors and three and a half years and $10,000 for each felony count. She returns to court for a plea hearing on Oct. 14.
