Gavin Zarek Rushevics, 45

Gavin Zarek Rushevics, 45, formerly of Stevens Point, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington due to the onset of an inoperable brain hemorrhage.
Gavin was born in Madison, Wisconsin on November 29, 1969 and graduated from SPASH, (’88), and UW-Madison, (’92). He married Laurie Lamken on February 5, 1994 in Seattle. They had two children together and later divorced. He worked as Director of Purchasing for Tri-W Distributors in Seattle throughout his life.

Gavin enjoyed music, sports, cooking, auto racing, traveling and most of all loved spending time with his children, family and friends. He was captain of the SPASH hockey team and continued playing competitive hockey throughout his life.

He is survived by his children, Alicen Marisa and Zarek Stephen, parents, Ann Rushevics (special friend, Ken) and Maris Rushevics (Cheryl), his older brother Brian, nieces Kinsey and Keeley, Grandmother Joan R. Whitfield, Aunt Carol Lesiow, and Uncles George B. Whitfield III and Ivar Rushevics. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Austra Rushevics, Voldemars Rushevics and George B. Whitfield, Jr.

Gavin gave the gift of life to others through organ donation.

A Celebration of Life service for Gavin will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday September 4, 2015 at the Shuda-Plover Funeral Home in Plover. Visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 PM on Thursday, and again from 9:00 AM until the time of services Friday at the funeral home in Plover. He will be laid to rest at the Latvian Memorial Park in the Catskills, Elka Park, New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a memorial for the higher education of his children or to farestart.org.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
