The former Cooper Motor site, 532 Division Street, is being eyed yet again by a developer for potential as a mixed use development.
A conceptual plan for the site will be presented at the Sept. 8 City Plan Commission meeting. Kyle Kearns, the city’s economic development specialist, said multiple buildings for retail/restaurant and student housing are being pitched by the Middle-based developer. Kearns added Tuesday’s presentation was designed to promote only the concept, and no action would be taken by city leaders at that time.
Several proposals for similar developments on the site have been denied in the past. Mayor Mike Wiza said he suspects this proposal will be “an easier pill to swallow” because of its design.
The City Plan Commission meets at 6 PM on Tuesday at Lincoln Center, 1519 Water Street. The public is welcome.
