City police and streets crews were called to Georgia St. in Stevens Point Monday morning to remove a small tree blocking the road.

The Stevens Point area was largely spared in Sunday night’s storm, which brought heavy lightning, winds of up to 60 mph and more than five inches of rain to some parts of the county. A flash flood warning was issued shortly before 3 AM but so far, no damage has been reported.

SPPD Sgt. Paul Piotrowski said the downed tree had been bent over at the trunk, meaning the tree had to be cut prior to removal.

“The worst seems to have missed us,” Piotrowski said.
