Flash Flood Watch Issued

City Times Staff
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch until 4 PM Tuesday.
Affected areas include Portage, Wood and Marathon counties.
According to the alert, heavy rains from the Labor Day weekend left area soil saturated and additional rainfall on Sept. 8 is “likely” to cause flooding in low-lying areas including streets and small creeks and rivers.
More than five inches of rain fell overnight Sunday. Up to two additional inches are expected Tuesday.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, which occurs without notice.
Residents should use caution in low-lying areas, and motorists should avoid driving through flooded streets.
