He is survived by his wife of 21 years, two sons, John Slayton (Tenley), Billings, MT; Steven (Brooke), Columbus, OH; two daughters, Pam Slayton, Virginia Beach; Michelle (Scott) Hewitt, Portage; three stepsons, Steven (Trudy Grabyshack) Moore, Kellner;  Michael (Bonnie) Moore, Kevin (Coleen) Moore, both of Wisconsin Rapids, a stepdaughter, Tami (Gary) Brost, Nekoosa.  He is further survived by three sisters, Virginia (Charles) Picard, Tomah; Veva (Robert) Knutson, Rosholt; Lisa Griffin, Tomah, two brothers Howard (Lynn) Griffin, Kronenwetter; Vernon (Janet), Madison.  He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Debbie and Bruce McMannes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger (Bernadine) Griffin and a step grandson, Christopher Brost.

Gene’s family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to the Maple Ridge staff for their wonderful care given to him during his stay.  Also to the Ministry Home Care-Hospice for their kindness and compassion to Gene and the entire family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 14th at 11:00 AM at the Moose Family Center, 1025 2nd Street N, Stevens Point.  A Loyal Order of Moose Service of Tribute will be held at 11:30 AM.  Pisarski Funeral Homes of Stevens Point & Plover is honored to have served the family.  For on line condolences please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com
