Mrs. Jeanne M. Lemmens, resident of Stevens Point passed away surrounded by family on September 9, 2015 while under Heartland Hospice Care at Portage County Health Care Center.

Jeanne was born on February 27, 1922, in Stambaugh, MI. to the late Mr. John and Genevieve Corbett.

She graduate of Stambaugh High School, Michigan 1939, and completed her Registered Nursing’s degrees from St. Catherine School of Nursing, and St Mary’s Hospital, St. Paul., Minnesota in 1945.

Married to Albert A. Carne in September 11, 1946, the couple moved to Walled Lake, Mi. She worked as Supervisor of Nurses at Pontiac General Hospital and he taught High School Core Curriculum in Pontiac Michigan. Albert taught high school mathematics.

In 1952 Mr. Carne joined Hardware Mutual (Sentry Insurance) moving to Detroit, and then to Chicago. In 1960 the couple moved to Stevens Point where Mr. Carne was named Director of Mass Merchandising and she retired from her nursing career.

On April 10, 1968 she received her Brokers license from the State of Wisconsin Dept. of Regulations and Licensing Real Estate Examining Board.  In 1970 Jeanne opened American Realtors at 101 Division Street. Her success and accomplishments were recognized by Portage County’s famed historian Wendell Nelson 1973. Mrs. Carne’s profile was included in his documentary featuring “The Most Formidable Women of Portage County”.  In 1979, Jeanne was elected President of MLS in Portage County and the Wisconsin State Chairperson for Membership of the Board of Realtors. She continued working until her retirement in 1980. By that time her staff had grown to five women and one gentleman.  Her husband Albert A. Carne preceded her on June 21, 1978.

In 1980 she married Johannes H. Lemmens, the couple moved to London, England where Mr. Lemmens was Deputy Chairman of Sentry International. After his retirement in 1985 the couple spent winters in Florida and summers in Stevens Point. Jeanne was a Cancer survivor of 38 years and strong supporter of the American Cancer. Johannes Lemmens preceded her on February 14, 2005.

She enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, China, Africa and Asia. Jeanne had a green thumb, growing flowers indoors and out. She was part of several Bridge groups, known as a skilled player. Jeanne was often sought after for advice, knowing she would have a compassionate answer. Her warmth, wisdom and generosity will be greatly missed by all that she touched.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Kristeen) Carne of Stevens Point and Patrick (Estrella) Carne of Staunton, Va. One step daughter Sylvia (Robert) Ackermann of New Berlin, WI. Three Grandchildren, and three Great Grandchildren and one special family. Preceding in death, sister Katherine (Robert) Smith, Muskegon Mi.,

A Funeral Mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. Bronislava Church, Plover with Rev. Clayton Elmhorst presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Boston Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a rosary concluding the visitation. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 10:30 am until the time of mass at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
