Dennis F. Meer, age 64 of Stevens Point, passed away Saturday September 12, 2015 at St. Claire’s Hospital in Weston, Wisconsin.

Funeral services for Dennis will be held 4:00 PM Saturday September 19, 2015 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point. Rev. Joyce Heintz will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 2:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral chapel.

Dennis was born March 15, 1951 in Michigan City, IN, the son of Donald and Theresa (Milcarek) Meer. He graduated from Elston High School and then earned his Electrical Engineering Degree from Purdue University. Dennis then began his career with General Electric and moved to the Chicago area. He married Barbara Spidahl on February 7, 1987 in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

The couple lived in Chicago until Dennis transferred with GE to Stevens Point in 2000. Dennis retired as a project manager for GE in 2008. He was a long time member of the I.B.E.W. He served his country in the National Guard for several years starting in 1969. He enjoyed working on tube radios and automobiles with his sons and with daughters he enjoyed reading the same books and having discussions about them and also working alongside him with whatever he was doing at the time.

Dennis is survived by his wife Barbara, Stevens Point. Six children: Pamela (Julian) Fernandez; Donald (Wendi) Possen; Jonathon (Holly) Meer; Frederick (Jessica Kreczner) Meer; Katharyn Meer; Jennifer Meer. Two grandchildren: Gabriella and Michael Fernandez. Six brothers and sisters: Eileen (Putnam) Robbins; William (Joan) Meer; Patrick (Susie); Mary Lou (Keith) Steinhauser; Lori MacMillan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
