Joyce A. Volm (Folkedahl), age 77, of Plover passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at her home under the care of Ministry Hospice.

Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Shuda – Plover Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 10:00 AM the same day. Burial will be in the Restlawn Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids.

Joyce was born April 11, 1938 in Merrill, Wis., the daughter of Orlin and Fern (Krueger) Folkedahl. She grew up in the farming communities of the Merrill and Antigo area. She and her former husband, Charles “Bud” Volm, raised their children in Bryant, Wis. She later moved to Wisconsin Rapids where she worked as a bartender before beginning her career at Basic American Foods where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 2003.

Joyce was an avid reader, with books and crosswords always within her reach. She was a true patriot and ever loyal Packer fan. No gathering was complete without Joyce’s poppy seed or pound cake.

Joyce had the biggest heart, the greatest sense of humor, and superb work ethic. Joyce loved her family, especially the children. She knew how to touch their hearts and light up their eyes with perfect gifts and tasty treats. She will be dearly missed. God truly was her strength, especially during these last several very difficult years of her life.

Joyce is survived by her two children: Vicki Volm, Wausau and Charles “Chuck” (Mary) Volm, Stevens Point. 4 grandchildren: Magan Rzymek-Stevens Point, Amanda Yenter (Dayland Martin)-Antigo, David (Colleen) Volm-Sagamore, MA and Aaron Volm-Stevens Point. Special neice, Emma Folkedahl-Neuy, West Bend; 2 great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Sandra (Kenneth) Thiede, Waterford; Kathleen (George) Sefcik, Cleveland, TN; Susan (Kevin) O’Day, Merrill; Nancy Folkedahl (Greg Bose), West Bend; 6 adult nieces and nephews; 3 great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson, 1 great grandson, and step-father Richard “Dick” Gulke. Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and/or Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
