Pacelli Football Falls to Manawa 50-42

The hosting Manawa Wolves claimed a 50-42 victory over the Pacelli Cardinals, in the Friday night conference match-up.
The Wolves started with the ball and slowly moved the ball up to the middle of the field to bring up 4th and 7. Their attempt to get the 1st down failed, turning the ball over to Pacelli.
On their first possession, Pacelli was unable to move the ball and attempted to punt the ball away, only to have it blocked by Manawa’s Zach Kreklow.
Starting at the 5 yard line, Luke Wilz found the end-zone, followed by Kreklow for the 2 point conversion, putting the Wolves up 8-0.
With Pacelli still unable to do much, Manawa once again took over the ball.
After getting called for a penalty, the Wolves found themselves at first and long, when Brandon Radloff connected with Caden Link deep in the field for a 50 yard touchdown run as time ran off the clock to end the 1st quarter, bring the score to 14-0.
Pacelli started with the ball on the 29 yard line to start the 2nd quarter of the game. The Cardinals moved the ball up the field and from the ½ yard line Christopher Shibilski ran the ball in for a touchdown. Daniel Mitch kicked the extra point bringing the score to 14-7.
With scoring going back and forth, Wilz once again found the end-zone for the Wolves, putting Manawa up 22-7.
Pacelli struggled to do much with the ball on their next attempt and on 4th and 11 had to kick the ball away once again.
Manawa took over the ball on the 26 yard line and on 2nd and 10 Radloff pitched the ball to Wilz who ran the ball in for another Wolves touchdown. Wilz also got the 2 point conversion, bringing the score to 30-7.
On the very next play Ethan Jansch, returned the kick, 70 yards for a Cardinal touchdown, followed by Mitch kick for one more, ending the scoring for the 1st half of the game at to 30-14.
Pacelli came out strong in the 2nd half, when Shibilski picked up the opening kick and ran the ball all the way back for a touchdown. Mitch kicked the extra point, bringing the Cardinals within 9 points, with a score of 30-21.
The Wolves once again moved the ball up the field on their next possession, when Radloff on a quarterback keeper ran the ball in for the score. The extra point attempt failed, bringing the score to 36-21.
After a series of turnovers, the ball went back and forth until Pacelli found themselves with it again.
Mitch pitched the ball to Shibilski, who ran the ball 75 yards for a touchdown. With Mitch kicking the extra point, the score stood at 36-28.
Pacelli closed out the scoring in the 3rd quarter when Mitch later ran the ball in for a touchdown, bringing the Cardinals within two points of Manawa at 36-34.
Manawa quickly picked up a 1st down to start the 4th quarter, but later got called for holding making it first and long when Hass ran 54 yards to find the end-zone once again. The point after touchdown failed, giving the Wolves a 42-34 lead in the game.
Mitch fumbled the snap on the Cardinals next possession, followed by Radloff fumbling for the Wolves giving the ball back to Pacelli.
Pacelli quickly moved the ball up the field when Mitch connected with Shibilski for a touchdown, followed by Nathan Helms for the extra 2 points to tie the game at 42 with 8:38 left on the clock.
Manawa refused to give up, going to Hass several times, before he finally goes up the middle for a touchdown. Radloff punched it in for the extra 2 putting the Wolves up 50-42.
The Cardinals tried to stay in the game, but with 2:46 left on the clock,Mitch had a pass intercepted by Radloff. The Wolves moved the ball again, but took a knee for the final plays of the game, for the victory.
Pacelli will host Shiocton at 7:00pm on October 1, while Manawa will travel to Amherst on October 2 to take on the undefeated Falcons.
