River Jug Stays With SPASH

SPASH ran by the Wisconsin Rapids Red Raiders Friday night, keeping the Ol’ Spirit Jug in Stevens Point.
Wisconsin Rapids fell to the SPASH Panthers 14-38, the fourth consecutive loss against the Panthers in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. The Panthers record improves to 4-2, placing them third in conference play, while the Red Raiders drop to 3-3.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Panthers came back with 24 unanswered points before the Red Raiders hit the scoreboard in the third.
Panther junior running back Gus Turner-Zick and senior quarterback Victor Kizewski were key in the win. Kizewski scored once and ran for 133 yards while Turner-Zick lead with two touchdowns rushed for 185 yards. TD passes were also brought in by senior wide receiver Mack Journell and sophomore tight end Joey Hauser.
For the Red Raiders, sophomore Isaiah Westfall scored a 21 yard TD pass and senior halfback Tristan Iverson rushed for a 78-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers next play the 3-3 Marshfield Tigers on Oct. 2 at Goerke Field. Kickoff is at 7 PM.
