Texas Man Found Passed Out Drunk Charged with OWI, Resisting

A man from Loredo, Texas who was found unconscious in a damaged vehicle on Sept. 19 now faces charges.
Ivan Ramirez, 23, pleaded not guilty in Portage County Court on Monday to misdemeanor charges of OWI and resisting an officer.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies responded to a damaged vehicle on County Highway EE in the Town of Almond, where they found Ramirez unconscious behind the wheel.
Deputies had to break the window to remove Ramirez from the driver’s seat, and they were soon able to wake him.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies reported the man smelled heavily of intoxicants. While they were escorting Ramirez to the rear of the vehicle, he allegedly pushed a deputy and attempted to pull away from another in an attempt to escape.
Ramirez continued to struggle even while being handcuffed.
He is currently being held in the Portage County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond. He returns to court October 5.
