The public is invited to an open house at the Plover Fire Department next week, as a part of recognizing Fire Prevention Week.
The open house is being held Wed., Oct. 7 from 5-8:30 PM, and all area residents are welcome, according to Deputy Fire Chief, Ken Voss.
“We’re going to do an outdoor turkey fryer demonstration, a jaws demonstration- and we’re going to let some of the kids operate the spreaders this year,” Voss said.
Batteries Plus will provide smoke detectors and batteries to attendees, and the event will also offer kids games and activities.
Stevens Point and Hull fire departments will also be on hand for the festivities, and the Plover Fire Auxiliary will be offering food and beverages for purchase.
The event also includes vehicle extrication and fire extinguisher demonstrations, basket raffles and a tour of the fire department and other equipment. The Spirit of Marshfield and Aspirus medical helicopters are also expected to fly in, and the Dept. of Natural Resources will feature its wild-land fire bulldozer.
“No charge, it’s all free, some come on down,” Voss said.
The Plover Fire Dept. is located in the Plover Municipal Building at 2400 Post Road.
