Ramps to I-39 North Reopen Following Accident

Emergency crews were called to a traffic accident on I-39 north involving at least one pickup truck about 2:30 on Friday afternoon.
The left northbound lane near mile marker 156 was closed to traffic for about an hour, police say. Witnesses on the scene say heavy afternoon traffic was backed up for at least a mile.
Stevens Point police and deputies from the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office closed I-39 off ramps on Highway 10 and near Crossroads Commons to prevent further vehicle backups shortly after 3 PM. Those ramps were reopened about 3:45 PM.
Law enforcement at the Crossroads off ramp say they believe one couple was taken to a hospital, but no further information was immediately available.
