NEW: Farmshed to Receive Portion of USDA Grant

Central Rivers Farmshed got a federal boost in building its new commercial kitchen.
The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture this week announced Farmshed would receive $95,817 in grant money, part of a $35 million investment in supporting local and regional food systems.
The grant funding from the Local Food Promotion Program will help Farmshed expand on its Local Food Buying Club, as well as completion of a commercial kitchen.
“This organization will facilitate food hub deliveries and expand the capacity of its commercial kitchen by developing a line of products and training members on food processing techniques for year-round storage,” the USDA wrote in a press release.
