A Stevens Point man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in a string of burglaries in 2013.

Kiedrowksi, 38, was arrested in April, 2013 after a tipster led Stevens Point police to his whereabouts following a series of bold, daytime residential burglaries on the city’s northeast side. The burglaries were fueled by a substance abuse problem, Kiedrowski said.

Kiedrowksi was originally placed on five year’s probation in January, 2014 on eight counts of burglary, possession of burglarious tools and possession of a controlled substance.

While free on probation, he is alleged to have committed a series of more serious bank robberies in the Green Bay area, for which he faces federal charges.

Portage County Circuit Court Judge Robert Shannon minced no words when he spoke to Kiedrowksi at Monday’s sentencing.

“For whatever reason, you failed your terms and went on to allegedly commit more serious offenses,” Shannon said. “Your substance abuse problems more than likely led you to where we are this morning.”

Kiedrowski’s sentence includes seven years initial confinement followed by five years of extended supervision. He will also serve 365 days for misdemeanor criminal damage to property and 30 months of additional jail time for felony possession of THC. Those sentences will run concurrent.
