Backpack Burglar Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail

A Stevens Point man will spend 90 days in jail for two separate incidents of theft.
Donald Coulthurst, 66, pleaded no contest to the charges including using a counterfeit certificate of title, a Class H felony, misdemeanor theft and resisting or obstructing an officer. Coulthurst was arrested in August on two separate occasions.
His first arrest was for stealing a backpack containing a laptop computer from a victim at the downtown cafe The Coffee Studio. While out on bond, he broke into someone else’s vehicle, taking the key cylinder and registration documents and attempted to have another key made at several area businesses.
In addition to a 90-day-sentence, of which Coulthurst has already served 58 days, Judge Robert Shannon ordered he serve 24 months on probation.
As part of the agreement, Coulthurst is to have no contact with the victims, The Coffee Studio, A to Z Auto Repair, Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts and Len Dudas Motors.
