No Trial: Baseball Attacker Pleads Out

A 35-year-old Plover man accused of nearly beating his girlfriend to death with a baseball bat has been convicted after pleading out.
Jason Hyatt was arrested in 2013 on multiple felony charges after striking his girlfriend multiple times with a baseball bat, also threatening to kill her and holding her hostage in a bathroom.
Hyatt also attempted to force the woman to swallow sleeping pills, which she later spit out, according to court records.
Hyatt pleaded no contest to second-degree recklessly endangering safety, bail jumping and false imprisonment during a hearing on Tuesday. His trial had been scheduled to begin later this week.
In the plea deal prosecutors dropped charges of aggravated battery, intimidating a victim and attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
He returns to court for sentencing on Dec. 8.
