Nancy S. Volkening, of Stevens Point, Wis., passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at her home.

She was born in Normal, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Barbara L. Holmberg. She lived in Stevens Point, Wis. and was a graduate of Elgin Larkin High School. Soon after high school she entered the Elgin School of Cosmetology. She was an avid Restaurateur owning and operating restaurants in Elgin(3), Manitowish Waters, Wis., Oma, Wis. and most recently Plover, Wis.

She also held real estate licenses in both Wisconsin and Illinois working for numerous brokers. She loved the Ballet, as she was part of the Lisa Boehm School of Ballet in Elgin, Ill, from early childhood through High School.

Enjoying the great outdoors and lakes of Northern Wisconsin was most gratifying to her. Surviving are her husband William, whom she married May 15, 1976, her children, Joel (Megan) Charlotte, NC; Cory, Rhinelander, Wis.; Ryan, Chicago, Ill. 3 grandchildren: Payton, Madison, and Mason. 14 nieces and nephews. 2 sisters: Linda Highley (Chuck) Elgin, Ill; Kathy Holmberg, St. Charles, Ill; Half Brother: Adam Holmberg, Pontiac, Ill; Stepfather, Donald Mensching, Cali.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Mensching, her father, Charles A. Holmberg and her sister Debra Johnson.

Mass will be held at St. Laurence of Elgin, Ill on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Mulcahey officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. Laurence. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin, Ill.
