Curling Club Offering Free Trial

Give curling a try and deliver the rock or sweep the stone on the sheet.
The Stevens Point Curling Club is offering a free learn to curl event for those interested in giving the increasingly popular Olympic sport a try. The curling club is housed at the Stevens Point Country Club.
In curling, players slide large granite stones or rocks across a sheet of ice into a circular target area. The game is similar in play to bowls, boules and shuffleboard. One player, the skip, delivers the stone on the ice and two sweepers scrub the ice to slow the rock or change its trajectory toward the target. Points are scored based on a stone’s proximity to the center of the target.
The free trials include all equipment needed and about one hour of ice time. Curlers are encouraged to dress warmly and wear soft soled shoes and athletic pants.
All ages and abilities are welcome to try.
Free trials are offered on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6-8 PM, Saturday, Oct. 24 from 1-3 PM and Monday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 PM.
The Stevens Point Country Club and Curling Club is located at 1628 Country Club Dr. The curling club is the first building on the right.
