Council Moves to Retain Edgewater, Fund Repairs

City Times Staff
In a 7-4 decision Monday night, city leaders voted to fund repairs at Edgewater Manor.
The decision brings lengthy debate on the 81-unit affordable senior housing building along the Wisconsin River. City leaders had for years debated whether to sell the building to a private entity, or keep it as a city-owned property.
Members of the City Council agreed to borrow $1.5 million to fund repairs including the building facade and parking lot, as well as upgrades to apartment interiors.
Over a dozen people spoke during the meeting, most in favor of maintaining the property.
