SPASH Football Enters Playoffs

City Times Staff
After a successful 7-2 season, the Stevens Point Area Senior High School Panthers varsity football team qualified for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association’s state tournament and the first playoff game is set for October 23 against the 5-3 D.C. Everest Evergreens.
The Panthers enter the playoffs after a 44-21 victory against the 5-4 Hortonville Polar Bears on October 16 in their last game of regular season play. The Panthers’ other season victories included wins against Wausau West, Wausau East, Neenah, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield and Oshkosh West.
SPASH’s two losses came back to back against Fond Du Lac and Oshkosh North on September 4 and 11.
Provided each team wins out, the Panthers would not take on Fond Du Lac until level four of playoff play on November 13 or 14. Oshkosh North is a division two team and would not see SPASH in playoff play.
The Panthers take on the Evergreens at Goerke Park on October 23 at 7:00 PM.
The City Times will provide WIAA football playoff coverage until SPASH takes a loss or the season ends.
