Florence A. Gagas

Florence A. Gagas, of the town of Sharon, Custer, went to her eternal glory on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point, with her loving family at her side.
Florence was born May 3, 1927, in the town of Alban, a daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Augustiniak) Gliniecki. She attended local schools, and married Walter Gagas on November 18, 1944 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Rosholt. Together they farmed at 1541 Gagas Lane from 1944 until 1987. At their retirement, they moved to their new home at 7887 County Road Z. Walter passed away in June of 2006. Florence’s health was failing, she spent the past 3 months in local nursing homes.
Florence was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society for 61 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, softball games and spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters: Theresa (Ralph Kostuch) – Custer and Dorothy (Henry Flees) – Rosholt; six sons: Robert (Patsy) – Custer, Ronald (fiancée Suzette) – Custer, Ralph (Marian) – Prior Lake, MN, Ervin – Custer, Marvin (Tammy) – Custer and LaVerne (fiancee Kathy) – Custer; one brother: Harry (Geraldine) Gliniecki; one sister: Gladys (Jerome) Lepak; 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by a brother: Clarence, a sister: Elizabeth Wisniewski, a son: Richard; a grandson: Henry Flees Jr; a granddaughter: Nikita Gagas and a great-grandson: Timothy Stroik.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Gregory Michaud officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Florence’s family would like to send a special thank you to Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital, the Faustina Home and the Rehab staff at Atrium Post-Acute Care Center, for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers memorials will be established at a later date.
