Greg Blaskey Sr., 80

Greg Blaskey Sr., 80 of Custer, passed away October 20, 2015 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Greg will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday October 27, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Gregory Michaud will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Custer. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point.
A Bible Vigil will be prayed at 6:30 at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name at a later date.
Greg was born August 18, 1935 in Stevens Point, the son of Joseph and Constance (Kluck) Blaskey. He graduated from P.J.Jacobs High School in 1954. He entered the United States Army in 1958 and served his country in Alaska with the Nike Missile Unit. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and returned to the area.
He worked for F.F. Mengel Construction until 1984 when he began his career with the Town of Hull where he worked until retiring in 2000. Greg married Paulette Stroik on October 21, 1978 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the couple settled on his family’s farm in Custer, and raised their family. Greg enjoyed tractor shows, collecting antique farm machinery, farming, playing and listening to polkas.
Greg is survived by his wife Paulette and their 3 children: Greg (Kari) Blaskey Jr, Custer; Nicholas (Katrina) Blaskey, Custer; Kelly (Chad) Radke, Wausau. 6 grandchildren: Madison, Ryan, Casey, Gabriella, Treydon, and Joshua. His brother: Val (Jeanette) Blaskey; 4 sisters: Beatrice Danielski, Theresa Steward, Joan (John) Raikowski, and Regina Ligman. His sister-in-law: Helen Blaskey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Michael, 3 sisters: Germaine, Christine, Florence and his brother Ray.
