Man Sentenced to Six Month in Jail for Sex Assault

A Stevens Point man will spend six months in jail after sexually assaulted a minor girl.
According to the criminal complaint, John Kowalski, 33, had been accused of sexually assaulting the girl beginning when she was 8 years old over a period of three years. The complaint indicates the girl didn’t come forward until she watched a video on personal safety shown at her school.
Kowalski had been charged with first-degree child sexual assault, but the charged was reduced to fourth-degree sexual assault as part of the plea deal made with prosecutors.
After pleading no contest Kowlaski was sentenced to six months in jail and 24 months of probation.
As part of his plea deal he is required to avoid contact with the victim or any girls under the age of 18.
