Philip Wik Gjevre, 77

Philip Wik Gjevre, age 77, of Stevens Point, died October 19, 2015 at St. Michaels Hospital.
Philip was born July 29, 1938 to the late Rev. A.H.G. & Josephine (Amdahl) Gjevre in Minneapolis, MN. He attended Rosholt, South Dakota public schools and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1956. Philip earned his Bachelors of Science in 1961 from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
On September 2, 1961, Philip married Jane L. Holland at East Chain Lutheran Church in East Chain, MN.
Philip was employed for 38 years in the insurance industry. He worked for St. Paul Fire and Marine in St. Paul, MN, Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point and Liberty Insurance in Wausau.
Philip enjoyed staying active in his life and volunteering for his community and church. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point; Model RR Clubs of Stevens Point and Waupaca; Soo Line Historical & Technical Society (www.sooline.org); and was a long time member of Sons of Norway. Philip also was the Convention Officer and Editor of Great Northern Railway Historical Society (www.gnrhs.org). In his spare time, Philip enjoyed traveling, boating, model trains and spending time with his family and friends.
Philip is survived by wife, Jane L. Gjevre of Stevens Point; children, Mark (Jane) Gjevre of Wayzata, MN, Bryan Gjevre of Baldwin, WI, Joel (Kati) Gjevre of Plymouth, MN; and grandsons, Toby and Max. He is further survived by brothers, Alden (Pat) Gjevre and Dr. John (Marge) Gjevre; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. A.H.G. and Jospehine Gjevre; brother, Paul; father and mother-in-law, Joseph & Lydia Holland.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Beth Macha presiding. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Boston Funeral Home and also on Monday, October 26 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
A Committal Service and Burial will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 27 at Lyster Lutheran Cemetery in Nelson, WI with Rev. Michael Vetsch.
