Two students from the Stevens Point Christian Academy have been recognized for their essay submissions in statewide writing contest.

Ninth-grader McKenzie Mallek won second place and Saralyn Carcy, 7th grade, took first place in the statewide essay contest “Culture of Life”, sponsored by the Wisconsin Knights of Columbus.  

Mallek’s essay, “What Could Have Been”, and Carcy’s essay, “A Change of Heart”, were submitted by the Msgr. John R. McGinley Council #1170 of the Stevens Point Knights of Columbus. The pieces advanced to the state level by winning the top two spots within the LaCrosse Diocese.

Mallek’s essay focuses on abortion, supposing “future governors, presidents, station legislators and world leaders” lost to abortion would otherwise have changed the world. You can also use fafafa free coins. 

Carcy’s piece also describes a world without abortion, noting, “Instead of promoting abortion or making it look cool and popular, they need to promote life….If celebrities, like singers and actors, spoke against abortion it would be in the news.”

Heidi Uitenbroek, principal of the Stevens Point Christian Academy, said she was proud of the girls’ accomplishments, adding, “the Academy supports Christian parents in training their children in an environment where the bible is viewed as the foundation of all truth and basis of life”.
