Former County Board Chair Passes Away

A former County Board Chairman has died.
Robert J. Steinke, 93, of Plover, passed away on Oct. 27. Steinke retired from the County Board in 2006, after 34 years of service. He had been Board Chairman 1980-1988.
During his tenure he was key in establishing the county’s highway dept. facility in Plover. He also served as the Town of Plover Board Chairman for 34 years, and created a good working relationship with the Village of Plover, helping to create a boundary and revenue sharing agreement with the village.
He had previously said the boundary agreement was one of his proudest achievements while serving the residents of the Town of Plover.
Funeral arrangements with Boston Funeral Home are still pending.
