Theresa C. Firkus-Montgomery

Theresa C. Firkus-Montgomery, 82, Stevens Point, died Tuesday,
Oct. 27, 2015, at Sylvan Crossings Assisted Living Facility in Stevens Point,
while under the care of Heartland Hospice.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31,
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating.
Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Amherst.
Visitation will be at Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point
from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until
the Mass. The Sisters of St. Joseph Third Order of St. Francis will pray the
rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial in her name will be established.

Mrs. Firkus-Montgomery was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Amherst, a
daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Kropidlowski) Buza. She attended St.
Mary of Mount Carmel School in Fancher through the eighth grade, then helped on
the family farm.
She was married to Benjamin Firkus Sept. 24, 1949, at St.
Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. They were married for 23
years, until his death Oct. 10, 1972.
She was then married to Joseph Montgomery June 26, 1976, at
St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lanark. They have been married for 39 years.
Throughout her life, she lived in Wisconsin, Texas, Arkansas
and Iowa.
She was a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Polonia.
Survivors include her second spouse, Joseph Montgomery,
Stevens Point; six children, Shirley Hogrefe, Fond du Lac, Roger (Diane) Firkus,
Iola, Allen (Donna) Firkus, Wisconsin Rapids, Janeen Groshek, Burnsville, Minn.,
Jack (Linda) Firkus, Stevens Point, and Nichole (Matthew) Peplinski, Tomahawk; one
sister, Leona Staudt, Sussex; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Eleanor
Mitcheltree, Marie Konkol, Helen Patoka and Bernice Bemowski; one brother,
Florian Buza; and two grandchildren, Traci Anne Firkus and Benjamin Duane Betro.
