Jean Charlotte Wurtzel, 91, Freeport, Ill., mother of a Plover man, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Ill., after a sudden illness.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at St. John United Church of Christ in Freeport, Ill. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum in Freeport, Ill.

Visitation will be at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, Ill., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and at the church from 2 p.m. Friday until the service.

Memorials have been established for St. John United Church
of Christ and Canyon Camp, Boy Scout Camp, Stockton, Ill.

Mrs. Wurtzel was born March 3, 1924, in Freeport, Ill., a daughter
of the late Arthur E. and Thelma M. (Waldecker) Anderson.

She was married to Arthur C. Wurtzel March 25, 1943 in
Freeport, Ill. He died Sept. 4, 2002.

She worked at Borchers and Maves Insurance-Real Estate
office and then at Union Savings Bank where she was an officer and retired with
the title of assistant secretary-treasurer in 1983.

She traveled throughout the United States and Europe with
her husband during their retirement years.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and a
former Cub Scout den m
other. She also participated in LOF
(Learning our Faith) Sunday school classes and along with her husband attended
Marry Mates activities for many years.

Survivors include two sons, John (Jean Marie) Wurtzel,
Pecatonica, Ill., and Roger (Virginia) Wurtzel, Plover; three brothers, Arthur “Andy”
Anderson, Newton, Iowa, Robert (Delores) Anderson, Freeport, Ill., and James
(Pat) Anderson, Davenport, Iowa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
