Local attorney Jared Redfield announced his intention to run for Branch II Circuit Court Judge on Friday.
Redfield has served clients in Portage Co. and throughout the state for over 30 years, providing criminal defense, family law, civil litigation, probate, bankruptcy and cases before Federal District Courts and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
“Diversity and experience are essential qualities for a thoughtful and deliberative judge to render wise and prudent decisions,” Redfield said in an email statement.
Redfield plans to make the formal announcement on the steps of the Portage Co. Courthouse, 1516 Church St., at noon on Wed., Nov. 4.
Redfield lives with his wive Linda in Amherst.

Redfield joins a growing field of candidates for the judge’s seat, including Trish Baker, current Portage Co. Clerk of Courts, and David Knaapen, who is a Portage Co. assistant district attorney.
Branch II Judge Robert Shannon was appointed by Gov. Scott Walker in August to fill a vacancy left by Judge John V. Finn, who retired earlier this year. Shannon will fill the vacancy through the April election and has not yet announced if he intends to run for the seat.
