SPASH Season Ends with 48-17 Loss to Kimberly

By Jacob Mathias
The SPASH Panthers varsity football team ended their season Friday night after a decided 48-17 loss to the Kimberly Papermakers.
SPASH took on Kimberly in the second playoff game of the postseason following a 24-13 win over the D.C. Everest Evergreens on October 23.
The top seeded, undefeated Papermakers quickly made their victory look imminent by scoring 34 unanswered points before the first half had ended.
Junior running back Gus Turner-Zick scored the only two touchdowns for the Panthers. The first came shortly before the end of the first half and the final score came from an 84 yard run by Turner-Zick with nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
A field goal by Joey Dorgan added three points to the Panthers’ total.
SPASH ends the season with an overall 8-3 record.
