SPPD Makes Major Drug Bust

More than 17 pounds of pot confiscated

The Stevens Point Police Department on Tuesday announced a drug bust yielding more than 17 pounds of marijuana and some $6,500 in cash being confiscated.
City police, along with police officers from Plover, Wisconsin Rapids and Portage Co. deputies, found the stash after executing a search warrant at a residence on the 1300 block of North Point Drive in Stevens Point.
The estimated street value of the marijuana at about $100,000.
According to a news release from SPPD, the marijuana had been delivered to the residence from a western state that has legalized the medical use of marijuana.
Charges are pending against two residents at the home, ages 20 and 22. Their identities have not yet been released.
